HOW TO MAKE A DESSERT MARTINI
Did you know that you can serve dessert in a martini glass? Sure you can! Chocolate Mousse, Parfaits, plain old Jello Pudding will look elegant served up in a classy and elegant martini glass! Just spoon in your favorite dessert, top it with whipped cream and some jimmies or sprinkles and, Voila, a dessert martini! I have even layered chocolate cake (complete with frosting!), then pudding, then whipped cream and sprinkled with crushed candy bars! Sort of a Martini Diva take on the classic English Trifle. You don't have to stop at dessert either! Why not put that chicken salad in a martin glass? Martini Chilled Soup! Martini Caesar Salad! A Martini Shrimp Cocktail and don't forget about chips and dips, olives and marinated mushrooms! There's all sorts of ways to use those martini glasses you love so much - and some aren't even for drinking or eating! |

HOW TO MAKE UNIQUE AND FUN STUFFED OLIVES
The plain green olive stuffed with a pimento is a thing of the past in today's cocktail scene. Bartenders and hostesses with flair are stuffing their olives with a bit more style and ingenuity!
I love olives of all kinds for snacks as well as garnishes and I'm always trying out new combinations. I've taken green olives and stuffed them with blue cheese, pickled garlic, dill flavored cream cheese and even little pieces of pepperoni, prosciutto and salami! I've also stuffed green olives with a slice of another olive like kalamatas! My newest trick is to take the olive jar and remove the juice (which you save to make a Dirty Martini!) and replace it with vermouth! Not only do these taste great, but if you replace the vermouth in a classic martini recipe with two of these you create a great dry martini with just the right amount of vermouth! Cool, huh? You don't have to limit yourself to "drunken" olives either! Dried fruits and fresh veggies are great "pickled" in an alcohol base. (Here's my recipe for Drunken Cherries.) Try putting some dried blueberries in blueberry vodka or dried apricots in apricot brandy or vodka - the combinations are endless. The "drunken" fruits are not only great as martini garnishes - they rock on ice cream and cake too! After you make your "drunken" fruits or veggies, make sure you mark the jar so you don't serve them to a tee-totaler. Let those olives steep in the vermouth for at least a couple of days. A week is preferable. The fruits can be fermented for shorter periods, I actually prefer my drunken cherries just soaked overnight. I'm going to try adding a few herbs and spices to my "pickling" mixture in the future to go with some of my new savory martini recipes I'm working on - get your taste buds ready for some new taste treats soon! Can you say "Holy Jalapeno, That's a Spicy Martini, Batman"? |

OTHER FUN WAYS TO USE MARTINI GLASSES
Martini glasses are beautiful and lend themselves to a variety of fun decorative touches in your home in addition to an elegant way to serve cocktails and food.
I never have a martini party without setting out little tidbits like nuts and small crackers in one of my hand painted martini glasses but I take it a step further. I will set a small votive candle in a martini glass for mood lighting or float a candle in one filled with water. I put some cute little hand soaps in one for the bathroom and set a few in the bedrooms with potpourri in them. I have a couple of those giant martini glasses and I use those for chips - you can get a whole bag in the one I have. I also have a slightly smaller "giant" martini glass and use that one for the dip! I always have one of my martini glasses by my desk filled with my business cards too - right next to one filled with M & Ms or Skittles! Martini glasses are beautiful stemware and your collection should be given a place of honor for all to see - don't be afraid to use them! Martini glasses are like pearls - they're at their best when used! |
