THE SKITTLES MARTINI & HOW TO MAKE SKITTLES VODKA!
Bringing the joy of childhood into the martini glass!
Ingredients: Skittles Candy, Vodka, Ginger Ale, Rainbow Sprinkles - Jimmies
I kid you not, the All A Skittle-Tini features Skittles Infused Vodka! And it's GOOD - sweet, but good!
Even though Skittles are one of my favorite candies, the first time I heard about making vodka flavored with Skittles my reaction was , "Egad, it's gonna taste like cough syrup." I couldn't have been more more wrong (wronger?) - oh, let's just say I was sadly mistaken!
What drew me in was how absolutely beautiful the Skittles Infused Vodka looked in the clear bottles - the colors were incredible; a brilliant yellow, orange, magenta and a rich purple. I had to buy some extra vodka and a big bag of Skittles and try them out just for the pretty colors. If the vodka tasted bad I could just eat the Skittles.
I did start with those mini bottles of vodka instead of the full recipe above. I tossed in 8 little skittles and the full mini bottle into a small clean jar, shook it up and followed the steps in the recipe above. I should have just gone for it - and not wasted the extra time but I hate to waste vodka!
But the vodka didn't taste bad at all, it was actually better than some of the flavored vodkas available for sale out there! My favorites were the cherry, the grape and the combination of them, simply because those are my favorite Skittles flavors. But the lemon and the lime were great in place of using lemon or lime and simple syrup in some of my recipes, and the orange was really interesting in my Orange Jewel-ious Martini.
I even enjoyed them a couple of times in shooters ice cold out of the freezer and sipped as a cordial. Amazing! They are sweet, no doubt about it, but there's something extra in there from either the sugar or the ingredient that makes Skittles kind of acerbic that lends itself to a fun taste experience.
