THE APPLE SAUCE CAKE MARTINI
The goodness of apple sauce and the zing of spices!
Ingredients: Spiced Rum, Atomic Hots Vodka, Sweet and Sour Mix, Apple Sauce, Lemon Juice, Apple Slice, Sugar, Cinnamon, Nutmeg
I created this martini specifically for National Apple Sauce Cake Day, I do a lot of recipes for food holidays because it's fun and it can be challenging! If it hadn't been for this I don't think I would have ever thought of using apple sauce in a cocktail recipe!
I made my own apple sauce, which I spice quite liberally and this is what decided the use of the spiced rum. Then I thought just a splash more cinnamon and I added a splash of Pinnacle's Atomic Hots cinnamon vodka. The rim is a reflection of the spices I used in the home made apple sauce.
There are several cake flavored vodkas out there but I decided against them as they are quite sweet and the apple sauce brought enough of that to the table already. I think the spiced rum is a lovely complement to the spiced apples. I balanced the sweetness with the sweet and sour and just a bit more sour with some lemon juice.
