TOTO, I'VE GOT A FEELING WE'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE!
THIS IMAGE IS NOT FOR SALE
This art was done for fun and as a parody of The Wizard of Oz. I always wondered why in the world Dorothy left Oz - hey, I lived in Kansas and they didn't have any ruby slippers!

- Liza Minelli, the daughter of Judy Garland, was once married to TV producer Jack Haley Jr., the son of the Tin Man.
- Buddy Ebson, the original actor hired to play the Tin Man, became very ill from the metallic makeup and was not able to appear in the movie, but his voice can still be heard singing "We're off to see the wizard," when Dorothy and her friends are dancing down the yellow brick road after the forest scene.
- According to lead Munchkin Jerry Maren, the "little people" on the set were paid $50 per week for a 6-day work week, while Toto received $125 per week.
- Shirley Temple was the first actress considered for the role of Dorothy but she was under contract to another studio at the time. Though a deal was set in place to trade her services for actors Clark Gable and Jean Harlow, Harlow's untimely death ended the negotiations and Judy Garland became Dorothy.
- There were actually several pairs of ruby slippers made. Each shoe was covered with red satin and lined with cream-colored kid leather, to which was applied 2,300 sequins. Each leather bow comprised 46 rhinestones, 42 bugle beads, and 3 costume jewels.
- Billie Burke was Fifty-three years old when she played the part of Glinda!
- Judy Garland had to wear a painful corset-style device around her torso so that she would appear younger and flat-chested.
- "Over the Rainbow" was nearly cut out of the film because MGM felt that it made the Kansas sequence too long.
- In the movie Glinda is the good witch of the North but in L. Frank Baum's book, Glinda is the good sorceress of the South.
- The slippers are not ruby in the book, but silver. They were made "ruby" in order to take advantage of the new "technicolor" technology.
- Judy Garland won an Oscar for her role - An Oscar Juvenile Award - which she later referred to as the "Munchkin Award"
- Judy Garland's portrayal of Dorothy was the main inspiration for the character of Mary Ann on "Gilligan's Island"!
- Toto's real name was Terry. She died in 1945 and was buried in her trainer's yard.
